Erasmus+ KA2 project with the aim to improve quality assurance in transnational VET mobility.


Intercultural Association Mobility Friends (A.I.A.M.) is a Portuguese non-profit organization, based in Barcelos, in the Minho region and specializes in European traineeship programs under Erasmus+ programme promoting, organizing and supporting international mobility, international meetings on topics of mutual interest, multiculturality and interculturality. The Association has its offices in Braga, Praia da Rocha, Funchal (Madeira Island), Radom (Poland) and Budapest (Hungary), employing 23 people of different professional skills and nationalities - teachers, IT specialists, guides, translators and project coordinators.

The organization is accredited (2016-1-PT02-KA110-0036368) as sending organization, host organization and co-ordinating organization. Volunteers are being chosen regardless of their ethnicity, religion, sexual preference, political view.
A.I.A.M. works as host and a receiving organization of VET students, teachers, officials and university students offering them vocational orientation and/or labor experience, skills and knowledge enhancement, know-how and better chances for professional career and success on the labor market. The total number of hosted participants exceeds 8900 mobility users from different EU countries. 

Intercultural Association Mobility Friends has participated in more than 400 different mobility initiatives receiving: 263 participants in 2012, during 2013 - 808 participants, during 2014 - 747 participants, during 2015 - 3000 and in 2016 they hosted more than 3200 participants from many different countries such as: Spain, France, England, Italy, Belgium, Croatia, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Sweden, Hungary, Ireland, Turkey, Poland, Romania, Finland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Macedonia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Uruguay, United States of America, Russia, Morocco and Egypt.

A.I.A.M. collaborates with a wide network of public and private organizations cooperating within the European Voluntary Service (EVS), Youth in Action program, Grundtvig, Erasmus+. During its five years of activity, it has implemented many projects with the participation of pupils of technical and vocational schools. Being a receiving partner, A.I.A.M. deals with the preparation of training/work placement program tailored to the needs of the interns. The Association offers trainees excellent conditions for professional and personal development, language agvancement. Through mobility accomplished participants have the chance to broaden their horizons, meet peers from other countries in Europe and adapt in a multicultural environment.

Throughout the years of experience A.I.A.M. has built strong relationships with local and international companies, which host young students from different EU countries. They provide them with professional experience opening international labour markets for them. Those companies are strongly interested in raising their hosting skills and competence, as well. 

A.I.A.M. cooperates also with local municipalities, which also put a lot of efforts on professional and social skills of the Portuguese local communities. The Association has established good relations with governmental organisations, policy makers, international ambassadors, who promote A.I.A.M. activities on their websites and among the international stakeholders.

Along with mobility activities the Association implements also strategic partnership projects aimed at finding new educational solutions in VET, development and introduction of significant changes on the European education market.

A.I.A.M. is also focused on recycling and saving the environment. Together with Partners from Lithuania (coordinator), Italy, Ireland and Greece they participate in a project entitled CRM, which aims at creating methodologies for paper mache making and natural dyes making.

The Erasmus+ funded STAYMOBIL project sets the overall aim to improve quality assurance in transnational VET mobility through socially responsible behaviour of all VET mobility actors, thus promoting and further developing quality in mobility and sustaining learning outcomes.
